How it works
Where the sheets come from
After counting, presiding officers photograph the polling-unit result sheet (form EC8A) and upload it to INEC's Result Viewing portal, IReV. Election Results NG reads the same public data IReV shows its visitors.
How we find new sheets
- About once a minute during an election, we check IReV's upload count for each LGA and ward.
- When a count goes up, we fetch that ward's polling units and pick up the new sheets.
- Every 30 minutes we re-check every ward in full, because a replaced sheet doesn't change the count.
- We keep our request rate low and identify ourselves to IReV, so we don't slow it down for anyone else.
How we copy them
We download each sheet once, store it unchanged, and record a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file. Each sheet page shows when it was uploaded to IReV, when we copied it, and a link to the original on IReV so you can compare.
Replaced sheets
IReV sometimes replaces a polling unit's sheet. We keep every version we saw and list the earlier ones on the polling-unit page, newest first.
What the progress numbers mean
“91 of 249 polling units have a sheet” means IReV has a sheet for 91 of the polling units INEC lists for that election and area. A missing sheet doesn't mean voting didn't happen there: the upload may be late, or the unit may have had no voting. Counts come from IReV and can be a minute or two behind.
Mistakes
If something on this site doesn't match IReV, IReV is right. Please tell us and we'll fix it.
